The aim of the RC Achievement Scheme is to encourage RC model flyers to improve their standard of flying and safety, and to prove that standard to an Examiner. The scheme is run by the BMFA as a National Scheme and it is open to all RC model flyers, including non-members.
Its important to understand that the scheme is not about passing a “Test” its more about personal achievements and goals that the individual flyer may set themselves.
Here at Marston Green Model Flying Club we have a BMFA Club Examiner who is able to organise “A” tests for multiple flying disciplines and lead a “B” standard Fixed Wing examination.
The Scheme is split into 3 parts :-
Part 1 – The “Basic Proficiency Certificate” (same maneuvers as the A certificate but flown using some electronic stability aids)
Part 2 – The “A” Certificate (Generally seen as the solo competent safe flyer standard)
Part 3 – The “B” Certificate (Advanced maneuvers demonstrated to a high standard with a focus on safety – required for public demonstration flying)
The links below are from the BMFA Scheme handbooks and give the flyer some background information on what the examiner will look for and the accuracy of the maneuvers…
